With the signed agreement the University of Nova Gorica and Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia aim to establish a framework for a long term strenghtening and widening of mutual cooperation in the fields of education, training and scientific research and development.
On the occassion of the signing of the agreement, Minister of Defence, Borut Sajovic, Msc, said that the Ministry leadership had set up a very good scholarship policy over the past years. What is important in this, as he said, is that »in educating scholarship recipients for more than sixty different vocations, we cooperate with those who have knowledge and experience and are good at it«. He believes that the University of Nova Gorica is a quality based, experienced institution, which knows how to transfer knowledge to people.
Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Golob, believes the agreement is a »win-win« situation. He said we were glad and proud that we would contribute to the educational structure of the Slovenian army, which nowadays needs profesionals in so many different fields as never before. The cooperation provides the University with more potential students and their employment opportunities.
The agreement defines a long term cooperation in the field of education and training as well as scientific research and development. The cooperation will be carried out in a number of fields, with the forms of cooperation being defined in more details in a contract to be signed in the near future. The forms of cooperation would include undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes connected to the field of military studies, defence studies and protection systems in times of natural and other disasters; also, a military module is planned to be included in the respective study programmes.
