Assistant in the field of Physics / Astrophysics (m/f/o)

We invite applications from candidates interested in pursuing a prospective research and academic career at the University of Nova Gorica. We offer work in a dynamic research environment with strong integration into the international academic community.
The work will be carried out within the Center for Astrophysics and Cosmology.
The selected candidate will be directly involved in research within the ESA PRODEX project Euclid Astronomical Transient Hunt (EarTH), with the aim of developing computational tools for the study of transient phenomena with the Euclid satellite.
Main tasks:
* preparation of a database (work package WP1),
* cross-matching of Euclid satellite catalogs with those of the Vera Rubin LSST project.

Application requirements:
* Master’s degree (2nd Bologna cycle) in physics,
* knowledge of astrophysical transients,
* experience with programming languages C++, Python, and other relevant languages,
* experience with astrophysical software (AstroPy and MOSFiT),
* experience with Linux operating systems, distributed computing systems, or high-performance computing infrastructure,
* good communication skills, both written and spoken,
* good command of English.

The expected starting date is immediately after the application deadline or by agreement. A fixed-term, full-time employment contract for three months will be offered to the selected candidate.
