University of Nova Gorica becomes European Talent Point
On Wednesday, 20 April 2016, the ceremony in the honour of promotion of new European Talent Points took place at the Centre for Research and Promotion of Giftedness – CRSN, Faculty of Education of the University of Ljubljana.
On the basis of the successful evaluation of the European Council For High Ability – ECHA, the University of Nova Gorica became one of the 28 newly approved European Talent Points in five different countries and was thus also included in the European Talent Support Network.
The Centre for Research and Promotion of Giftedness (CRSN) at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana, integrates knowledge, experience and ideas of researchers and practitioners in the field of giftedness, pursues a variety of research and development, training and consultancy activities, thus striving for the promotion of giftedness, thus striving for the promotion of giftedness by fostering the quality life of the gifted and talented in accordance with the vision of the Slovenia's Development Strategy.
An important part of promotion activities in terms of care for the gifted and talented is being implemented internationally at CRSN. In this context, in July 2015 CRSN received an important European accreditation, thus joining thirteen similar European centres in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Lithuania, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey and the Czech Republic, Ireland, Hungary, the Netherlands and Slovakia in becoming one of the centres of the centres of the European Talent Support Network – EUROPEAN TALENT CENTRE SLOVENIA.
The mentioned accreditation is an innovative initiative of the European Council for High Ability (ECHA) for the international cooperation at the European level of the people and institutions that address giftedness and talent in various ways, e.g. through research, profesionally and socially. The benefits arising from this accreditation are manifold: rapid and effective information provision, thematic integration, professional operation, conducting scientific reseach, and optimization of intellectual and financial resources within each country and internationally. It should be noted that the accreditation process was applied for the first time this year, and that the accreditation award ranked CRSN and the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana, among the internationally indentified promoters of gifted advocacy.
The basic purpose of networking within the European Talent Support Network is cooperation and promotion of talented European citizens for the common good in various areas of social engagement, from mental health care to artistic and scientific outstanding achievements and development, among the accredited centres (European Talent Centres) and by the involvement of new institutions or the European Talent Points through individual centres.
